Arte nas Estações | Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, RJ (2023)

In its debut year, Arte nas Estações presented a unique edition in Rio de Janeiro. From September to October 2023, a new selection from the collection of the International Museum of Naïve Art (Mian) was exhibited at Z42 Arte Gallery with the art show As the World Falls Down. Curated by Ulisses Carrilho, the exhibition showcased, for the first time, works by foreign artists featured in the collection.

The exhibition marked the return of part of the collection to the Cosme Velho neighborhood, in Rio’s South Zone, where Mian was originally based. Out of approximately 4,000 works in the collection, 120 paintings from 38 countries were selected for their relevance to the discourse on Western global geopolitics, especially in the 20th century, with a focus on representations that resonate with contemporary issues.

Arte nas Estações | Minas Gerais

CONGONHAS, MG, CONSELHEIRO LAFAIETE, MG, OURO PRETO, MG (2023)

Arte nas Estações celebrates Brazilian diversity through its artistic expressions. With powerful exhibitions and transformative educational initiatives rooted in dialogue with local territories, the project decentralizes the traditional Rio–São Paulo axis of art shows, shining a light on significant works by self-taught artists with diverse narratives and worldviews.

In its first edition, from February to September 2023, it presented three traveling thematic exhibitions across Ouro Preto, Congonhas, and Conselheiro Lafaiete, totaling nine group shows in eight months. Curated by Ulisses Carrilho, the exhibitions “Sofrência”, “Entre o céu e a terra”, and “A ferro e fogo” highlighted selections from the collection of the International Museum of Naïve Art of Brazil.
