Arte nas Estações | Rio de Janeiro

Visual arts, especially popular expressions, are a mirror of a people’s culture. From this perspective, exhibiting works by artists from other countries at the International Museum of Naïve Art represents an investment in history and memory beyond geographic borders. It is a way to keep this important collection alive, which was displayed for many years at its headquarters, operating between 1995 and 2016, in a historic house also located in Cosme Velho.

The continuity of this collection is of utmost importance, through the dedication of Jacqueline Finkelstein, the collection manager, and the Arte nas Estações project, which organized nine exhibitions in the cities of Ouro Preto, Conselheiro Lafaiete, and Congonhas, and presented As the World Falls Down in Rio de Janeiro in the same year.

The poetic expressions gathered in the exhibition, coming from such diverse cultures, only reinforce the power of these self-taught artists. The Arte nas Estações project continues its mission to ensure the visibility of this remarkable collection through its itinerancy across different locations in the country.
